To help businesses finance the purchase of electric cars for their car fleet, the State has put in place several cumulative financial aids. What are they? What are the conditions for obtaining in 2023? Qovoltis takes stock.
Assistance to businesses for the purchase of electric cars
To support businesses in the purchase of electric cars, several financial arrangements have been put in place:
- The conversion bonus
This aid is awarded to companies that want to renew their fleet with cleaner vehicles. The condition? Buy or rent an ecological vehicle and scrap a polluting model. To benefit from this bonus, both cars must meet specific criteria, detailed in Article D251-1 of the Energy Code. The amount of support depends on the type of cars purchased and the energy used. For example, the premium is €2,500 for a passenger car. It can be increased by €1,000 if the company has an establishment located in a low emission zone.
- The ecological bonus
This financial assistance is available to businesses wishing to buy or rent a new 100% electric vehicle. Its amount depends on the category of the vehicle and its price. Since January 1, 2023, its amount has been reduced to €3,000 for a private electric vehicle, and €4,000 for a light commercial vehicle. Plug-in hybrid vehicles are no longer eligible. Good news: this support can be combined with the conversion bonus.
- The electric retrofit bonus
The retrofit In business, it consists in converting a professional combustion vehicle into a 100% electric vehicle. This process offers a major advantage: being able to go electric without changing cars. The retrofit bonus for businesses covers costs up to €2,500 for a passenger car and €5,000 for commercial vehicles such as vans.
- Local grants
Some communities pay aid to businesses. Among them: the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the Île-de-France region, the Île-de-France region, the Île-de-France region, the Normandy region, the Grenoble-Alpes metropolis, the city of Lyon and the city of Paris. Aid for the purchase of an electric car: what steps should businesses take?
Today, many dealerships offer to advance the amount of the conversion bonus. If this is not the case, businesses have six months from the date the new vehicle is invoiced to file their claim.

Good to know
In addition to financial aid, companies owning electric cars benefit from other interesting fiscal arrangements: the exemption from usage taxes (ex-TVS) for electric cars, the tax deduction for the depreciation of passenger vehicles and the exemption from vehicle registration tax for electric cars.
What assistance to businesses for the installation of charging stations?
Until recently, businesses wishing to install charging stations in their car parks could benefit from the Advenir program. They have been excluded from the system since June 30, 2023, regardless of whether their private car park is open to the public or not. Only automotive service companies and short-term vehicle rental companies are still eligible.
